The savvy entrepreneur took her license, her grandmother’s nature-based beauty treatments and her can-do spirit and opened POLISH Nail Emporium in 2000. Located in downtown Brooklyn, the nail spa offered the kind of nail services and atmosphere, which was associated with chic spas in Manhattan. Erika K’s use of natural treatments which included ingredients such as milk, honey, aloe vera leaves, almonds and more, garnered a cult following and national media attention. A year later she added a few choice beauty items from hard -to- find candle lines, and exclusive beauty products to the spa and christened the apothecary, Pretty Inside. Even today, Erika K. continuously appears as a beauty and lifestyle expert for magazines such as “O, the Oprah Magazine, InStyle, and Lucky,” to name a few.
A few years later, Erika K. had her eyes on a larger dream. World domination? Well almost, a sophisticated yet clubby day spa for the fabulous and discerning Brooklynite. But after opening her brick and mortar Brooklyn spa location, Pretty Inside’s business model morphed into services and products broader than just spa offerings. Hospitality and travel, soft and hard goods and international import/export are a few of the categories of business Pretty Inside have enjoyed successes. Also with the US dollar at flux, Erika K. has started a kaleidoscope of various businesses and projects, “SpaSuites at Pretty Inside”,” The Next 6 Months,” and “FortyFabFiftyFine” to introduce key business services and products to key niche groups and markets. Her favorite concepts are focused on the International traveler interested in adventure, beauty, food, art, architecture, and all other aspects of quality of life. With Erika K’s beauty and business expertise, Crazyladytravelin is still at work in New York City and at play all over the world.
